City Of Dallas Citizens Gardener Training

Dear community gardener,
We want to ensure your participation in your local community garden is a successful experience. Thus, we ask you take advantage of the free class series on gardening that will be offered this Fall, 2022. Dallas County Health & Human Services (DCHHS), in collaboration with Texas A&M AgriLife Extension, will be offering a 7 class series that will include the following topics:
September 24: Introduction to Community Garden Logistics (Getting organized /Funding/ Volunteer Recruitment)
October 1: Earth-kind (Soils & Irrigation)
October 8: Veggies 101
October 15: Integrated Pest Management
October 22: Harvesting & Storing/Farmer’s Markets
October 29: Fruits 101
November 19: Backyard Chickens
The course will take place at the Urban Farm facilities in Garland (715 Rowlett Rd., Garland, 75043). Classes will be held on Saturdays at 10:00 am and will last approximately 2.5 hours. DCHHS will provide transportation assistance if needed.
